My New Heros

I have been so sick of this stupid ass hype around the Xbox 360. Even people I once had respect for can’t shut up about the damn thing. All they can talk about is “the awesome graphics” and how on one of the NBA games, you can see the players sweat (because somehow that makes playing pretend basketball better then the real thing). In fact, this is so amazing to them, they waited in line for 15 hours at a local Circuit City to drop something like $600 just to pick one up before they “sold out”.

Little known fact and side note: Companies like Apple, Microsoft and Sony actually under produce these products for all the free “Gizmothingy Sells Out” press coverage. This makes the product sound hotter than it would be otherwise. This works great around Christmas time when most people will sell their souls whatever the media tells them to buy. However, what they don’t tell you is they’re already working on shipping more and odds are they’ll be in stock well before the holiday.

Back on topic, I’m not the only one unimpressed by all the crap floating around about the box. Say hello to Smash My Xbox. Taking donations from visitors, they raised enough money to head out and wait something like 55 hours outside to snag one. As the name would suggest, they didn’t exactly take it home.

November 22nd 2005 - 10am - Well, after 55 hours of pain, cold, and suffering, we have got our Xbox 360 and successfully smashed it outside Best Buy minutes later, with a large sledgehammer in front of a few Xbox Fanboys who just bought brand new 360s
