The Stars are Aligned
Without fail, every single Christmas brings about another new site idea for me to dive into. Last year it was my forum directory, the year before that I was all about allmusic.com (not my site, but I did build the current version) and three years ago I finally put together the first version of this site. This year, however, nothing has really struck me as fried gold. Most of the ideas I do have require more work than I have time for. So it’s safe to say that I’ve been more than a little disappointed with my lack of seasonal creativity.
All that changed today. I’m happy to announce that with just days left before Christmas, I have finally come up with a new project. While this won’t be anything new or even all that groundbreaking, it will give me something to work on during the normally slow winter months. This time of year, most people are too busy shopping or catering to shoppers to have any time or interest in web development. So I like to use this time to try and expand my portfolio as much as I can.
Speaking of past projects, ForumFox seems to have hit quite the mark with web designers from India. Every day, I find myself sorting through 40 or 50 submissions from one “company” or another. What’s really funny is it’s always in the same pattern. First they submit a regular site, then their own site, then the rest come flooding in. Looking at the submission times, it’s clear they’re not using a script for this (if they are, well done..lol) as the times between each submission seem to be about how long it would take a human to fill out the form. If it wasn’t all so damn funny to me, it would really be annoying that these people have a hard time understanding all the notices and bold text saying “forums only”. This leads me to believe they know damn well what they’re doing when they submit all these sites and are hoping it’s an automatic process.
Apologies if this post sounds a little off from center. I haven’t been sleeping well the last week and a half because of personal life stress and guilt over leaving the puppy alone for so long. It’s all really starting to take a toll.
