Well Done, Republicans.
So as it turns out the party that promotes itself as “the party of fiscal responsibility” has over the last few years show itself to be anything but. By expanding the government’s power, running two wars that will last for decades, fighting the war on drugs and spending billions on forming new departments we didn’t really need in the first place, they’ve done a great job of showing they’re full of shit. Now, don’t take my word for it. Just listen to John Snow beg Congress to raise debt limits:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary
John Snow warned lawmakers on Thursday that a legally set limit on the government’s ability to borrow will be hit in mid-February and urged Congress to raise it quickly.Failure to do so potentially risks throwing the country into its first default in history, Snow warned in what has become virtually an annual rite as U.S. borrowing needs spiral.
Great job. Now we’re not only broke and trillions in debt, but it shows no signs of ending. What’s the administration’s plan to get us out? More war? More spying on Americans? More distractions from the real problem with “leaks”? I remember during the election they made a big deal about the lack of ideas from Democrats, but I don’t hear “Hey, let’s stop wasting money” from any major Republican. What’s really scary is we have another 3 years of this before we can even try to change things around. Granted, I don’t think a Democrat would do any better, but at this point, any change could help.
