Canada Sucks and I Can Prove It

Let’s get something out of the way here; if you are trying to break into my house by kicking in my front door, I will be trying to break into your skull with a slug from my .45. Not that I’m pro-death, I’m just pro-protecting-my-family-and-property. Needless to say, I reafferemd my dislike of Canada when I read that a man is now being charged with murder for doing just that.

Two men kicked in the front door of the home, and the property owner grabbed a firearm.

At that point the invaders left… but as they were going, a shot was fired at their vehicle and hit the driver.

The culprits drove to Russell to complain to the RCMP.

The driver was treated for his injuries and released to the police.

Now, 28 year old Harvey Joseph Young is charged with Attempted Murder, along with eight other weapons and firearm-related charges.

So what this tells me is that the government of Canada wants to protect the rights of criminals to break into the homes of it’s citizines. They’re telling their own constituents that if you defend your home and protect your family, you are guilty of a crime. I’m glad to see they have everything in order.

  1. They would do the same thing in the Netherlands. Pretty stupid.

  2. Not silly at all. We had a similar case in this country a while back - Tony Martin.

The crucial point in that story is that the invaders were running away when they were shot. They had already been scared off, and were leaving. No matter how you spin it, that is not self-defence.

If they were shot while coming into the house, then I would be fully supportive of the home-owner. As it stands, the home-owner shot a man in the back. This is wrong, and should be punished appropriately. Murder is too harsh a charge, that implies pre-meditation - manslaughter would be more appropriate. Perhaps even with leniency for mitigating circumstances.

  3. The problem here is, that allowing someone to “defend” yourself or more likely exercise some kind of an this-is-my-own-justice thing, where do you draw the line?
Should you be allowed to shoot someone if they didn’t steal anything, but only broke ionto your home?
Should you be allowed to shoot someone if they caused, say, a ten thousand dollar damage to your property?
And who should be allowed to conseal a weapon (and what kind of) in order to be used in such event? Are you expected to take part in self defence course, a psycological test to find out you’re not just some silly goon ready to shoot anything that moves and so on.

Too many questions and too much space for all kinds of speculations.

  4. Oh, I do agree with you Juvenall — if somebody is breaking and entering in my home, I’ll do whatever it takes (within reason, but I’ll err on the side of my caution) to protect me and mine. But when they’re running away, they’re no longer — not even by American law — breaking and entering. I can’t link you to a specific case (I lost the link when I moved to Canada), but people have been accused of manslaughter when shooting at people who were fleeing and off their property in the US.

  5. Canada is right!!! I support the RCMP fully. You shoot someone in the back, your going to jail. If the (vandal’s) had thrown eggs at the home on Halloween and one of the eggs broke out a window while the homeowner was there and believed he was being broken into and saw the two (vandal’s) running away and he fired off a couple rounds hitting one of the vandals in the back fately wounding him. He should go to jail! Check out the case in Ohio when a man sexually assaulted his daughter, the boy friend tried to protect the daughter (girlfriend) and was bruttaly stabbed over 11 times killing him. The prosecuter charged that the home owner was at no fault given the boyfriend supposadly attacked him with a 4″ pocket flash light. Justified murder. So if a person is on your property and you feel the need to kill them simply say they attacked you with anything available including a loaf of bread. In Ohio you’ll walk scott free. After all you have the right to protect life and property.

  6. Canada may have there faults but OHIO SUCKS the big one!!! Even the rest of the U.S. feels Ohio is a rogue state.
